So I finally started my Neoprene tail. I received the fabric months ago but was busy and have not had time to start it. I was trying to decide between sequins, painting, or covering with silicone. I finally decided to paint it. I got my paints last weekend and did a couple test samples. After some issues with measuring and cutting out the pattern, I finally got it done, not perfect at all. LOL. I starting sponge painting the tendrils that will come off the fluke. I will put in the fluke and finish the fin bef Just wanted to share this beautiful costume I made a couple years back. It is all handmade and took several years to complete. I strung Swarovski pearls on the bra and belt and draping. Then glued on hundreds of shells. I love the way it came out. I was able to wear it a couple months back for a bellydance performance :) . I also made a pearl bracelet and pearl and starfish necklace. This weekend was the big NCMerfest at Triangle Aquatic Center. It was alot of fun. Thanks to Jenny for this pic of the North Carolina Merfolk posing in our tails.
So I ordered my professional mermaid tail back in August from Merbella's Studios, which are my absolute favorite designers. The tails they make are not just tails, but art. They say it takes from 90-120 days for a tail to be made, but it usually is closer to 5 months for many of them. I went into it knowing I would have quite the wait! I am on day 141 today and emailed them yesterday to see if there were any updates. I heard back today that my tail is in the batch they are currently working on!! YEAH! She said it should be ready the end of January/early Feb and assured me I would have it in plenty of time for the Festival of Legends in April. I will see previews once the painting is started and am so excited!
They make incredible tails, tops, accessories. Check them out: Merbella Studios **The tail attached is not mine, but I LOVE it nonetheless. I did request, blues, purple, teal, and some gold accents :) I also finished my shell top that I started back in Sep. I glued on the shells, added pearl/bead/ crystals and a pendent. I love it. I have two new beautiful tops and I cannot decide which I like more
I am pretty proud of this one. I made this in exactly 3 days in time for NCMerfest this weekend. I covered the bra with the leftover fabric I had cut off the skirt. Added seaweed, pearls/beads (and lots of them). I LOVE how it came out. I matches my walkable tail and my swimmable one too
