Bellafina decided to visit her favorite campers today! She went to the Outer Banks last week and collected a bunch of beautiful shells and sea glass to share with everyone. She had a new book to read and even more kids wrote her messages and drew pictures for her in the journal. Unicorn Shore is one of her favorite places on the whole lake and she was so happy to see her friends there.

Mermaid Anna got to try out her new pink tail yesterday. So last week I saw a photo on my Facebook news feed of the WRAL Sand Desk. I was so excited and thought it would be very cool to do some mermaid photos there. We made a plan and went today. The weather reporter, Aimee Wilmoth happened to be arriving at that time and was intrigued and stopped to talk to us and wanted us to send her a photo to use during her weather report!! How exciting! You can view the whole segment and see the photos we did below. Thanks WRAL! 'Mermaids of NC' love watching Aimee, our new favorite weather reporter. Carrying a mermaid is no easy task. Luckily I had these brave lifeguards willing to help me that day. Thanks to Lorie Buchholz for these photos.
My cousin Bellafina visited some campers today. She had so much fun! She lives in one of the smaller lakes in Raleigh during the Summer and watches all her friends at camp. She is pretty shy and does not know alot about humans. Alot of people say we look alike. :) One of the camp counselors showed her how to grow her legs and now she is so excited that she can come on land for a while to visit her friends. Today she learned all about the Purple Fuzzy Monster, Sylvester the Squirrel, and Unicorn Shore. Sylvester even made an appearance. She brought her treasure box of things that she has collected on her journies and even let the kids write in our journal. We have a journal that we write all our adventures in and the kids took turns writing messages and drawing pictures. She learned all about the Tribes at Camp and how each person has an Indian name. They even chose one for her "Beautiful Fish". She was so honored! They told her all about the beads they collect and what the best foods and snacks are and now she is determined to try some pizza and a chocolate chip cookies. *Photos by Beth Miller Had a wonderful surprise visit with some wonderful kids today. Unfortunately Hurricane Arthur disturbed my swimming and I got swept inland and ended up in a small pond behind the Y. Lucky for me some lifeguards heard my splashing and rescued me and let me swim in their pool until a fisherman could come and pick me up and bring me back to the ocean. *Photos by Lorie Buchholz HUGE THANKS YOU'S to all who voted for me and shared my photo on Facebook. I really wanted to win for June as it was my birthday month!! I couldn't have done it without your support. Thanks so much for making my birthday even more special this year.
